Steven Gerrard tipped 'exciting' winger Ryan Kent to bring creativity to Rangers' attack after the loan signing was cleared to play against Osijek.

Gerrard revealed Kent had been given the go-ahead on Wednesday afternoon to feature in the Light Blues' Europa League second round qualifier first leg fixture.

The Liverpool youngster only joined up with his new teammates this week but Gerrard insisted Kent is ready for action thanks to Jurgen Klopp's notoriously rigorous training methods.

Gerrard said: "He is an attacking player who can play on either side, and he can also play as a number 10. He is quick, he is aggressive in possession in terms of one v ones, and he is an exciting player to watch.

"We are hoping he can help us in terms of creativity in the final third.

"He is two or three days in, so it will take him a while to settle in and get used to his teammates and his surroundings, but in terms of fitness and where he is at, he is in a good place.

"He has had two or three weeks with Jurgen Klopp, and he is not shy in pushing the players physically as we all know.

"So he is in a good place and he has trained well in the last few days, and I am looking forward to seeing what he can contribute to Rangers."

Fellow new recruit Umar Sadiq will not feature as the Roma forward is short of match fitness.

Gerrard, however, said he was pleased with Rangers' preparations ahead of his third competitive match in charge.

He continued: "It's gone very well, we analysed what we did really good in the previous times and where we need to improve.

"I think I was quite clear and candid after the Schkupi encounters that we need to try and that extra bit of quality in the final third and when we get the opportunity to finish teams off we have to be more ruthless and more relentless in our play."
