St Johnstone sign Matty Kennedy on two-year-deal
The 23-year-old could make his debut on Tuesday night against Falkirk in the League Cup.
St Johnstone have signed Scottish winger Matty Kennedy on a two-year-deal.
The former Kilmarnock, Everton and Cardiff City man finalised his move to Saints on Saturday but is not eligible for their League Cup tie with Montrose.
The 23-year-old could make his debut in Tuesday night's fixture with Falkirk at McDiarmid Park.
Having started his career at Killie, he went on to join Everton, spending the majority of his time at Goodison out on-loan with spells at Tranmere Rovers, MK Dons, as well as a stint in the Scottish Championship with Hibs.
In February 2015, Kennedy signed for Cardiff City on a three-and-a-half year contract, where he made 18 appearances. During his time with the Bluebirds he also had loan spells at Port Vale, Plymouth Argyle and Portsmouth where he spent the entire 2017/18 season.
Saints boss Tommy Wright told the club's official website:"This is a really exciting signing for the football club,"
"I'd like to thank the chairman for pushing this one through so quickly because there was a lot of interest being shown in Matty from other clubs.
"I think it's a real coup for us. I'm delighted to have him here and I think along with Drey Wright on the other flank we have a real potent threat in the wide areas for the season ahead.
"Matty has had a good career down in England and has impressed during his loan spells too.
"He was doing really well for Portsmouth last season and everything I've seen and heard from him down south has been extremely positive.
"He's quick, comfortable with both feet, and he's still only 23-years-old so his best years are ahead of him.
"He was really keen to come here and play and I'm sure it's a signing that will excite the fans because he's a real talent and plays football in an exciting manner."
