Greg Docherty will be allowed to leave Rangers on loan in order to get more game time this season, STV understands.

The midfielder hasn't started in either or Rangers' Europa League matches under new manager Steven Gerrard this summer and, with opportunities expected to be limited at Ibrox, could move on loan to continue his development.

Docherty was signed by former manager Graeme Murty in January and played 11 matches in the second half of the season. He has taken part in a full pre-season under Gerrard and was part of the training camp in Spain and also played in the 6-0 friendly win over Bury.

Gerrard has signed nine new players as he looks to improve the club's fortunes, with 11 players leaving Ibrox.

STV has also learned that full-back Lee Hodson looks to have played his last game for the club. He will be allowed to leave, having become surplus to requirements.
