Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is looking forward to being reunited with Rosenborg in Champions League qualifying but says the Norwegian side will be a test for his side.

Rodgers saw his side brush off Alashkert to win 3-0 on the night and 6-0 on aggregate but the win came at a cost with Jozo Simunovic sent off early on and now suspended for the next challenge.

With Dedryck Boyata and Mikael Lustig not yet back with the club after their World Cup matches, and Marvin Compper currently injured, the Celtic boss could have a defensive headache ahead of next week's game.

He laughed off the problem, saying "every pre-season brings a problem with centre-halves" but admitted he'll consider his options in the next few days.

He said his side would need to be patient against a side they defeated 1-0 over two games in the third qualifying round last season.

"They were two tight games the last time we played and we got a goal late on to get through," he said.

"They will come here and be nice and compact, like they were last year and we will need to be patient in that game and obviously it will be a tough game for us out there.

"But it is a tie we look forward to. At this stage of the season whoever, you get, you have to respect who you play."

Aside from Simunovic's dismissal, which Rodgers felt was unfortunate, the only other worry for Celtic on a night when they were largely untroubled by their opposition was an injury to Moussa Dembele after he had scored twice. The manager was hopeful there would be no lasting effects.

"He was tight at the back of his legs so we will need to assess that tomorrow and in the next couple of days," he said.

"He is as fit as he has been since I've been here at this stage of the season so hope it was just a tightness and he will be okay."
