There's been plenty made of Scot Allan Russell coaching England's strikers as they've made their way to the World Cup semi-final but there's someone bringing a bit of balance to proceedings when they face Croatia.

Step forward Marc Rochon of Caithness, who has been working as analyst for the Croatian national team and will be doing his utmost to thwart England and stop anything coming home.

If his analysis has centred on Harry Maguire's heading ability then he'll be delighted to know that the England defender has "revealed" where his large skull came from, saying he takes after his father. Safe to assume nobody quotes So I Married An Axe Murderer in the Maguire household then.

And speaking of things that are out of all proportion, a nation has become obsessed with waistcoats. Gareth Southgate has sparked a trend that has seen Marks and Spencer's run out of waistcoat, the Museum of London bid for an original to put on display and every self-respecting Scot burn any waistcoat he owns for fear of looking like a fan.

Before all that though, there's the small matter of Belgium v France to consider and the neighbours look to have a healthy rivalry that's being summed up as 'Asterix v Tintin'.

Kevin de Bruyne has said he didn't know who Kylian Mbappe was until recently, but then went on to praise the young striker, while teammate Eden Hazard has revealed that he used to support France and has been pictured wearing their kit.

Oh, and there's a Hazard hologram.
