There are still weeks and weeks left in the transfer window but nothing sharpens focus like European qualifiers.
Rangers look set to add Umar Sadiq and Lassana Coulibaly before the signing deadline for the Europa League first round but have been discouraged from pursuing one target after the deadline.
Bruno Alves' imminent departure leaves a gap at the back and it's reported that Steven Gerrard saw Millwall's Jake Cooper as the man to take his place. Millwall have other ideas though, and have issued the classic 'hands-off warning'.
Aberdeen don't join qualifying until the second round and Derek McInnes has said that he wants a striker added before he takes on Burnley. A bid was made for John Marquis but it wasn't enough to prise the striker from Doncaster.
Elsewhere, St Mirren have taken a Middlesbrough talent on loan for the season and St Johnstone have taken Andrew Driver on trial.
