Roma striker Umar Sadiq has arrived in Scotland to complete a loan move to Rangers.

The Nigerian forward flew into Edinburgh on Monday night and is now expected to join Steven Gerrard's squad on a season-long loan before the Europa League signing deadline.

Rangers have been pursuing the striker for several weeks and were awaiting a work permit to be granted to allow him to complete his move. Now he's likely to go straight into the squad for the match against Shkupi on Thursday at Ibrox.

The club are also hopeful of concluding a deal for Angers midfielder Lassana Coulibaly before the European tie.

Speaking last week, Gerrard had underlined how 6ft 3in target-man Sadiq would bring a physical presence to his Light Blues frontline.

Gerrard said: "He'd bring us a forward option - height, power, presence.

"He's very enthusiastic. He's the type of player who gives you just as much out of possession as he does in possession which is very important."

Sadiq scored five goals in 13 games in the Eredivisie during his stint with Breda.

He initially joined Roma on loan from Spezia in 2015 but signed a permanent deal with the capital side after impressing on his outings for the Giallorossi.
