Edinburgh head coach Richard Cockerill insists his side can claim another big scalp and defeat Irish giants Munster in the Guinness PRO14 play-offs.

The two sides meet at Thomond Park on Saturday in the first quarter-final of the competition.

Edinburgh have already beaten Munster this season, but are firm underdogs after securing a place in the play-offs for the first time last weekend in Cockerill's first season in charge.

Despite admitting his side are not yet at the level of their opponents, the former Leicester boss says they are capable of springing another surprise if the players can manage their emotions.

"We have to turn up and be accurate tomorrow, physically, mentally and not get the wobbles when they score a try or a penalty and the crowd go wild," he said.

"We have to make sure we control the game as best we can and keep the crowd quiet.

"If we are in the game with 20 minutes to go, we will win.

"They are the home team and the team who have to produce something to win.

"We don't have to entertain, we are just going with our strategy to try and win the game

"Maybe, just maybe we are good enough to go there and get the win.

"Everybody is going there to win the game, and if you don't have that mentality, there's no point going."

Cockerill has been keen to underplay his side all season, often citing their recent history as proof that they are punching above their weight, but he is relishing the big stage after already securing Champions Cup rugby for next season.

"We are playing one of the powerhouses of European rugby in a knockout," he said.

"We are at the sharp end, this is big time rugby with 25,000 people screaming and shouting for the guys in red and Edinburgh trying to deal with that.

"Some of our guys have never played in that environment. This is the sharp end as a coach, player and a supporter and this is what its about."
