Scottish FA prepared to host showcase match for Bairns
Falkirk will significantly reduce their youth academy involvement in the new year.
The Scottish FA will host a showcase match if players from Falkirk's youth academy struggle to find new clubs.
Falkirk announced on Wednesday they are reducing their development of young players in an attempt to win promotion back to the Scottish Premiership.
The Bairns, who have been playing in the Championship since being relegated in 2010, will no longer put money into the Forth Valley Football Academy (FVFA).
They will also continue to review their involvement in the SPFL development league until the end of the season.
The SFA have voiced concern over the decision, saying it will have a significant impact on everyone connected to the FVFA programme, a professional multi-sport organisation League Two side Stenhousemuir also contributes to.
They have now committed themselves to hosting a game if the young players are not snapped up by another club.
"We appreciate this has been a difficult decision not taken lightly by those involved with Falkirk," they said in a statement.
"However, our overriding concern at this time is for the young footballers that could be affected by this change in strategic direction.
"With that in mind, should it be the case that players are left without a club, the Scottish FA have committed to funding and staging a showcase match to ensure as many as possible can find an alternative platform to continue their individual progression."
They added: "In terms of any disruption to games programmes and the wider ramifications for FVFA, we will maintain regular dialogue with all parties involved to ensure the best possible outcome to an unexpected development."
