Jonny Gray extends Glasgow Warriors contract until 2020
The deal comes ahead of 1872 Cup clash with Edinburgh Rugby on Saturday.
Jonny Gray has signed a new two-year contract with Glasgow Warriors to stay at the club until at least May 2020.
It comes just days after Niko Matawalu's contract was extended until summer 2019 and ahead of the 1872 Cup clash with Edinburgh Rugby at Murrayfield on Saturday.
Gray has been with Glasgow for five years following a spell in New Zealand and captained his side for the first time in April 2015.
Also a Scotland international, the second row was named club captain for the 2016/17 season and then co-captain along with Henry Pyrgos.
Gray shared his excitement over the new deal by explaining how proud he is to play for Warriors and represent the special people in his life when he is on the pitch.
"I love the city," he said. "It's hard to put into words when you go out and represent the people who got you here, my family and my gran, you feel like you're representing more than just yourself when you're on the pitch.
"I can speak on behalf of the whole team, I think everyone feels like that.
"My gran is probably the biggest influence I had, not just in rugby but off the field as well. She was very special to me and the whole family.
"She wasn't a big rugby fan but she always had advice for me and taught me a lot of lessons in life."
