Rangers midfielder Josh Windass says it is embarrassing they did not manage three wins in a row under Pedro Caixinha.

The 23-year-old is preparing for Hamilton Academical's visit to Ibrox on Saturday when a victory would ensure stand-in boss Graeme Murty achieves what Caixinha could not.

In his second spell in charge, interim manager Murty has secured back to back victories with a 3-1 win against Hearts followed up by a 3-0 victory over Partick Thistle.

Windass scored in both of those games and is looking to build some momentum ending talk of that winning streak.

"It's a bit weird that we're even trying to win three games in a row to be honest, obviously if we do it's a good thing to achieve considering our recent form, a club this size shouldn't even be thinking about winning three in a row," he said.

"We've not been good enough, that's the bottom line, there's nothing else I can really put my finger on.

"We've not been good enough and we're looking to make that right."

He added: "We've never really spoken about winning three games in a row, I think it's a bit more embarrassing that we've not won three games in a row.

"Two wins always brings out confidence in people and there's been a few good performances so the lads are looking to build on that this weekend."

The former Accrington Stanley player is also keen to highlight the impact Murty has had and says the team are enjoying playing under him.

"The lads respect Graeme and we all enjoy training under him and it's been a good week, hopefully we can get another win this weekend," he said.

He's put his own personality into training, he has a good laugh with all the lads and the lads fully enjoy training.

"There's not much he's changed though he's obviously given us a day off which is nice to have during the week."

Rangers confirmed last Friday that they had not interviewed anyone for the manager's position but are considering applications.

When asked how the manager speculation is affecting the players, Windass said "The lads just come in and train as hard as they can, obviously the lads respect Graeme and do what he's asking us to do, we just carry on training as usual.

"I just leave it down to the club, it's up to them when they appoint and who they appoint, it's nothing to do with us really.

"Whoever gets the job whether it be Graeme or someone else we're all trying to play to stay in the team."
