Ross County have handed a week-long trial to former Bolton Wanderers winger Chris Eagles.

Manager Owen Coyle is looking to improve his squad after taking over at the Dingwall club in September.

He has now turned to a player he signed twice while managing in England.

"We've brought Chris Eagles in on a week's training with us," Coyle told STV.

"He's a player that I know well from my time at Burnley and Bolton.

"That's to have a look at Chris within this week and see if there's anything he's got that can enhance our squad as we move towards the January window."

Eagles began his career at Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson in 2003 but only made a handful of appearances over the next five years.

Coyle signed him for Burnley in 2008, where he was part of the team that won promotion to the English top flight.

While a Burnley player, he rejected a move to Rangers in 2010 and subsequently moved to join Coyle at Bolton a year later.

He left the Trotters after three years and has since played for Blackpool Bury, Charlton and Accrington Stanley.

His previous club was Port Vale, who he left in the summer.
