Scotland's friendly against the Netherlands may not be the biggest date on the sporting calendar but for three of the national team squad it is shaping up to be a memorable occasion.

Malky Mackay is taking charge of what is meant to be his only game in charge and he is set to hand debuts to a trio of players.

Callum McGregor, Ryan Jack and Ryan Christie are said to be earning their first caps against the Dutch.

Mackay defended himself against accusations he had picked Aberdeen players to help sell tickets for the match at Pittodrie, insisting he had picked a young, fresh squad with everyone there on merit.

The big question over a Pittodrie appearance is whether or not Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes will still be at the club at the end of the international break with speculation he will be Rangers manager by then.

Former Rangers boss Dick Advocaat has said McInnes would be right for the job, while former Aberdeen star Willem van der Ark has said the job is not right for McInnes. Funny, that.
