Alan Archibald said Gary Fraser's return from injury was the only positive he could take from Partick Thistle's defeat to Rangers.

The midfielder played the final 20 minutes of the 3-0 Scottish Premiership loss at Ibrox, making his first appearance since April 2016.

He's been sidelined with a knee injury which saw him ruled out for the entire 2016/17 campaign.

At a time when Thistle continue to struggle with injuries, to the extent they named just six substitutes on the bench again on Saturday, Archibald was delighted with the boost.

He handed Fraser his first taste of action since his side's 1-0 win over Dundee United two seasons ago and says it's time for him to get stronger now.

"It's probably the only positive to take from the game," the Jags boss said at full time.

"You lose 3-0 and lose bad goals so getting Gary back after two years out and getting him that 20 minutes for him to run about and enjoy was great.

"He's an infectious character and it's been really disappointing to see him out for such a long time but it will do him the world of good. "He will kick on and play the development game on Tuesday as well."
