Brendan Rodgers says Celtic are focused on putting in a good performance and securing three points against St Johnstone, which would help them break a British record.

If Celtic win the Scottish Premiership fixture at McDiarmid Park on Saturday they will extend their domestic unbeaten run to 63 matches.

They would take their own record of 62 games set between 1915 and 1917 during Willie Maley's time in charge.

Celtic equalled that tally last Saturday with a 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock and Rodgers says his side want to maintain their run and go one step better this weekend.

"It's a great milestone in terms of equalling the record," he said. "It's a phenomenal achievement. If you look at all the numbers involved with it, it really demonstrates the quality and the professionalism of the players.

"But we want to keep it going, we're very focused on getting a good performance and hopefully a win at the weekend."

Celtic will go into the game off the back of a 2-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League

Rodgers said their performance in that match has left a good feeling in the camp.

The result ended their dreams of reaching the knockout stages of the competition but keeps their chances of dropping into the Europa League alive.

"It was an amazing night for Celtic, take away the result, but the way we played," Rodgers added.

"We went toe-to-toe with a team who will expect to get to the semi-finals of the competition. The atmosphere in the ground was amazing and it was a great Celtic night."
