Dundee United are to appoint former Hearts boss Csaba Laszlo as their new manager.

The Hungarian has been identified as successor to Ray McKinnon, who left the club earlier this month after a poor start to the club's Championship promotion campaign.

He is expected to be unveiled as the club's new manager at a media conference on Wednesday.

Laszlo worked with United general manager David Southern at Tynecastle and will now return to Scottish football after a seven-year absence.

The 53-year old, who still has a house in Edinburgh, took Hearts to third place in the league during his 18 months in charge of the club and was also named manager of the year.

Since leaving Edinburgh, he has worked at Charleroi, the Lithuanian national team, MTK Budapest and Dunajska Streda.

Laszlo will now be tasked with leading a return to the Premiership for United and his first match in the dugout will be against Falkirk on November 19.

United are second in the table, with St Mirren just ahead on goal difference.
