Caretaker Rangers manager Graeme Murty says he would seriously consider taking on the role permanently if it was offered to him.

The Under-20s boss stepped in for his second spell in charge within seven months after Pedro Caixinha was sacked on Thursday.

He led his side to a 3-1 win over Hearts at Murrayfield by welcoming back exiled Kenny Miller who scored two goals and set up his side's third.

At full time, Murty admitted it would be a role he would think about staying in long term.

"I would find it difficult to turn it down, but I didn't come north of the border to become Rangers manager," he said.

"I came to further my career and concentrate on being excellent and improving every day and where I end up will be a consequence of my personal standards on a day-to-day basis."

Both Miller and Murty received rapturous ovations from the 14,000 visiting fans and the latter said he had no doubts over handing him the armband.

"It wasn't my decision, to be honest," Murty continued. "He's down as vice-captain of the club - I didn't give it two seconds' thought.

"You know what you're going to get - but it wasn't just about him, it was about the team. Kenny will be the first say his goals were part of good team play."
