Premiership managers react to Pedro Caixinha sacking
Neil Lennon, Brendan Rodgers and Derek McInnes have had their say on his exit.
It has been the hot topic on everyone's lips so it's no surprise some of the Scottish Premiership managers were asked about Pedro Caixinha's exit this week.
The Rangers manager was sacked on Thursday after seven months in the job and Graeme Murty has returned to the helm for Saturday's visit to Hearts.
Celtic's Brendan Rodgers, Hibernian's Neil Lennon, Kilmarnock's Steve Clarke and Aberdeen's Derek McInnes has given their reactions to the news.
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers recalled being in Caixinha's position before and said he understood the difficult task he had on his hands.
He recalled his time with English side Reading and how little time he was given to prove himself.
"I had 20 games as a manager at Reading so I know what it's like," he said.
"It's what happens if you're not getting the results. It's what the board and the fans demand if you're not doing your job and we've seen it already this season.
"You have to go in and do your very best, impose your way of working, to get the results because it's the easy option for the clubs to remove the manager rather than the players."
Hibernian boss Neil Lennon is worried clubs' lack of patience when it comes to managerial appointments could become a trend that seeps in north of the border.
The Northern Irishman made further examples to Caixinha's short time in charge of Rangers by pointing out Frank de Boer was only in charge of four league games at Crystal Palace.
He says it is important to remember it is still people's livelihoods they are dealing with, regardless of the wages involved.
"For me there should be a period of time," he said. "Frank de Boer got four games, it's crazy, it's absolutely scandalous. But money seems to dictate our game.
"People need to remember these are our jobs, it's our livelihood.
"At the top level you earn really good money but that makes no difference to us, it's our professional pride and reputation that's at stake and that's worth more than money."
He added: "Scottish clubs in the main aren't trigger happy but all of a sudden in the space of four months we've seen three Premiership managers go already.
"It is a concern that trend is seeping in up here because it wasn't the case previously."
Kilmarnock boss Steve Clarke provided the final nail in Caixinha's managerial coffin at Ibrox but said it was just one of those things that was part of the game.
His side drew 1-1 with Rangers on Wednesday, leading to the Portuguese boss' departure, but he believes he will return to football in the future.
"You're always disappointed when you see a fellow manager lose his job but we all know it's part and parcel with the game," he said.
"It'll happen to me and it will happen to other managers in the future. Rangers will move on and I'm sure Pedro will move on as well.
"It's a well paid, high risk job, we enjoy it. We're football people and we'll always go back in."
Derek McInnes echoed Neil Lennon's concerns that managers are not given enough time to turn poor form around.
He pointed out three Premiership managers have lost their job in such a short space of time but would not be drawn on whether or not he would be the next to vacate his position to move to Ibrox.
The Aberdeen boss has been linked with Caixinha's position but he was not prepared to get on board with the speculation.
"I've never been drawn on any speculation in the past and I won't change that now," he said.
"I've been linked with different things in my time here and nothing's transpired.
"I signed a new contract in the summer and I'm very happy being here, as I've stated often enough."
He added: "I think it's sad that we're not even out of October and we've lost four managers out of the league already this season. That's a third of the managers working [in the Premiership].
"I was disappointed to see somebody lose their job but for my own sake I'm only concentrating on tomorrow's game against Ross County.
"My job is here at Aberdeen. I've stated often enough how happy I am here and nothing changes from that."
