Football Talk: Rangers want McInnes, Wright blasts SFA
Your daily round-up of what's happening across Scotland and beyond.
Farewell, Pedro, we hardly knew ye.
After an eventful seven months, Rangers have sacked Pedro Caixinha, making his reign the shortest of any Ibrox boss whose name is not Paul Le Guen.
Attention is already turning to questions over who the next Rangers manager will be but hopefully everyone will take pause and remember just how much the Portuguese boss squeezed into his short time in the job.
From standing in a bush explaining a Euro exit to explaining tactics using water glasses, insisting he had the best squad in Glasgow to sharing sayings about dogs and caravans, Caixinha made the most of his time in the spotlight.
His replacement is not likely to have the same novelty value. A British boss is desired and Aberdeen's Derek McInnes is said to be top of the list.
Also being linked with the role is St Johnstone boss Tommy Wright but he has other matters to deal with right now.
He is fuming that Callum Davidson is still in the dark about whether or not the SFA want him as part of the coaching team for Scotland's friendly against Netherlands. Quite right, too.
In other Hampden news, referee and MP Douglas Ross has said he will not be accepting every FIFA and UEFA appointment that comes his way if it clashes with his day job as a politician.
