Celtic supporters have won a prestigious FIFA Fan Award for a stunning tifo tribute to the Lisbon Lions.

The fans were nominated for their display in the final league game of last season and pipped German giants Borussia Dortmund and Danish team FC Copenhagen to the honour.

FIFA, the sport's world governing body, recognised the display which marked the 50th anniversary of the Glasgow club becoming the first British team to lift the European Cup.

The tribute to the heroes of 1967 set the scene for the 2-0 victory over Hearts which saw Brendan Rodgers' side complete an entire league season without defeat.

Dortmund made the shortlist for their response to a terror attack on the team's bus ahead of a Champions League tie with Monaco.

The match was postponed by a day, prompting fans of the German side to launch a social media campaign offering a bed for the night to travelling Monaco fans.

Copenhagen were nominated for scenes following their title win when the team took the trophy to a disabled fan to lift along with the players, as the rest of the support celebrated wildly.

Meanwhile, Celtic striker Moussa Dembele lost out to Arsenal star Olivier Giroud for the Puskas Award for best goal.

The Frenchman's finish at the end of a sweeping 25-pass team move against St Johnstone was one of ten goals shortlisted for the honour, named after Hungarian legend Ferenc Puskas.

But compatriot Giroud took the title for a stunning scorpion kick against Crystal Palace.

Nominations for the Puskas award were decided by a panel of experts including former Celtic striker Henrik Larsson.

The other panellists were Alan Shearer, Pedrag Mijatovic, Celia Sasic and Abby Wambach

The winners were announced at a star-studded ceremony in London.
