Robinson: Somebody has to beat Celtic, so why not us?
The Motherwell boss is fired up for facing Celtic in November's League Cup final.
Steve Robinson believes his Motherwell side can be more than a match for Celtic when they line up in November's League Cup final.
His Steelmen will take on the Scottish champions at the national stadium after knocking Rangers out of the semi-final with a 2-0 win.
Celtic extended their unbeaten domestic run to 60 games on Saturday with a 4-2 win over Hibernian in the other semi-final of the competition.
But Robinson isn't prepared to write off Motherwell's chances simply because of their good run of form under Brendan Rodgers.
"It would be nice to beat them," he said. "Somebody's got to beat them so why not us?
"The belief gets more and more as the game goes on. They know they're fitter and stronger than other people.
"They work hard and there's a togetherness and a real solidarity within the club, not just the starting 11, but throughout the 20 players.
"There's no big-time Charlies so that sometimes gets you where you need to go.
"I'm delighted for everybody involved with the football club. There have been dark days at this football club and people have struggled.
"It's just nice to repay the faith they had in me and give them something to cheer about today. I'm chuffed to bits to be involved and associated with that football team."
Robinson added that he expected to be written off again before a ball was kicked, joking about how the promotional posters would look ahead of the final.
"It will probably be Celtic in big, massive capital letters and we won't even be playing" he laughed. "But we're happy with that.
"Celtic have earned that right haven't they, so we'll just show up on the day and do what we do."
