Pedro Caixinha says he accepts full responsibility for Rangers' 2-0 defeat to Motherwell in the League Cup semi final.

A second-half Louis Moult double sunk the Ibrox club at the national stadium, knocking them out of the competition before they could set up a cup final date with Celtic next month.

The Rangers boss was disappointed with his side's performance but said he was the one to blame.

"I am fully responsible for it," he said speaking at full time. "The way the team presented itself today was a shade of what we need to be.

"The opponent played better, we let them play their own game and we could not place our game. That's the main reason they won the game.

"Our performance was really, really poor. When that happens me as a leader have to assume it loud and clear.

"We deserved to lose this match. I created a lot of expectations on them and maybe created a sort of anxiety.

"I can not say that any player had a better performance than anyone else so it was a collective poor performance and individually poor performances."
