Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson has extended his contract until May 2020.

The 42-year-old took over the reigns in March of this year, steering the Steelmen to safety.

After an impressive start to this campaign, with ten wins from their first 14 matches, Motherwell lie fifth in the league table and have progressed to a League Cup semi final against Rangers.

The signs of progress have been enough to convince the Motherwell board to prolong the Northern Irishman's stay in Lanarkshire, with the extension tying Robinson to the club until the summer of 2020.

He said: "I am delighted to have signed this new deal and thank everyone at the club, and the supporters, for the backing they have given me so far.

"There is a real sense of togetherness at the moment and my staff and I work hard every single day to try and make a success of things to give the Directors, staff and, most importantly, the fans a team they can be proud of."
