Barry Bannan and Darren Fletcher will line up in central midfield for Scotland as they face Slovakia in their World Cup qualifier at Hampden.

The national team can't afford any slip-ups as they aim to reach the play-offs and need a positive result ahead of their final group game in Slovenia on Sunday.

Manager Gordon Strachan's plans were dealt a blow when Celtic duo Scott Brown and Stuart Armstrong were ruled out through injury .That meant a rethink of the team's midfield and Bannan, Fletcher and James Morrison have been given the nod.

Craig Gordon starts in goal, earning his 50th cap, behind a back four of Andrew Robertson, Charlie Mulgrew, Christophe Berra and Kieran Tierney.

Bannan and Fletcher play behind Morrison in the centre of the park with Matt Phillips and James Forrest flanking striker Leigh Griffiths.
