Anderlecht appoint Hein Vanhaezebrouck as new manager
Celtic's Champions League opponents have named the long-term successor to Rene Weiler.
Celtic's Champions League group rivals Anderlecht have appointed Hein Vanhaezebrouck as their new manager.
The Belgian side sacked Rene Weiler in mid-September after a poor start to the season and had been working with a trio of coaches taking charge of the side in the interim.
Nicolas Frutos was in the dugout for the 3-0 home defeat to Celtic last Wednesday, which boosted the Scottish champions' hopes of European football after Christmas.
Anderlecht have now moved to make a permanent appointment and Vanhaezebrouck arrives at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium after success with KAA Gent.
The 53-year old has signed a three-year contract.
Vanhaezebrook began his career as assistant boss at Lokeren and has been in charge of several Belgian clubs, including two spells at Kortrijk.
He took Gent to their first league title win in 2015 and steered them into the knockout stages of the Champions League the following season.
They finished ahead of Valencia and Lyon in their group but lost to Wolfsburg in the knockout round.
Last season, he took Gent through the Europa League group stages, defeated Tottenham Hotspur in the first knockout round but lost to fellow Belgians Genk in the last 16.
Celtic host Anderlecht in their final Champions Legaue group stage match on December 5.
