Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers says Hibernian provided the toughest test of the season so far for his Scottish champions.

The travelling Edinburgh side held them to a 2-2 draw after two goals from John McGinn cancelled out Callum McGregor's brace.

It's only the second time in the 2017/18 campaign Celtic have dropped points, having also drawn at home to St Johnstone.

When asked if it was one of the toughest tests Celtic had faced this season, Rodgers replied: "No, it's the toughest.

"There's no question about that. firstly, big credit to the Celtic players. That mentality and strength in character came through in the end.

"We have played so many games and come back off a real period of three games away from home.

"There's been a lot of exertion, a lot of travel and then to play against a team who I thought was excellent, with that energy, it was a great result for us."

Rodgers was also asked if he was impressed by McGinn, but rather than single out just one opposition player he said: "I was impressed by Hibs.

"They are one of those teams on their day who can perform really well. Neil had them set up really well, pace up front and energy behind the front players.

"I was really impressed by them as a collective. They had real energy in their team, really physicality and that was a test for us today.

"After all the games we play, not just the physical but the mental excursions that go into that, I was proud of my players but congratulations to Hibs."
