Kilmarnock manager Lee McCulloch has said that Gordon Greer and his teammates showed their character as they recovered from an early mistake to draw with Dundee.

Veteran defender Greer was at fault when Faissal El Bakhtaoui scored an early opener for the visitors. But the 36-year old earned his side a point when he fired in an equaliser after Kris Boyd had headed down a corner.

McCulloch thought it fitting that Greer had come to his side's rescue but said that the collective spirit had impressed him.

"I thought over the course of the game we were the better team, again just an individual mistake at the start of the match, which happens," McCulloch said. "If we want to try and play a certain way, these mistakes are going to happen.

"The biggest thing is how we react to it and we showed great character to react to the mistake.

"I'd have been pleased for anyone to get the goal. We win together and lose together. That's the mentality we've got.

"Gordon's been fantastic for us. He's been man of the match in the last four or five games he's played. He slips and the players round about have not managed to dig him out a hole. It was great character from him and the rest of the boys."

Kilmarnock did have a late chance to take all three points but Boyd hit his volley wide. McCulloch let Boyd off the hook saying that the surface may have played a part.

"At the time I thought, 'Right good chance'," McCulloch said. "'Goal' is what I thought. But having watched it again, it has checked on that surface. He went to hit it with his right foot, it bounced and checked on the surface, then he went with his left. It was in between his feet. But we had more chances than that."
