In numbers: Celtic's 69-game record-breaking unbeaten run
All the stats behind the side's long stretch of league and cup domination.
Celtic went 69 games unbeaten in all competitions in Scotland.
Celtic started their unbeaten run in style on May 15, 2016 with a 7-0 win over Motherwell which featured seven different scorers. Second-half substitute Jack Aitchison, 16, then made history by becoming the club's youngest debutant and he celebrated in style, scoring with his first touch to make it 7-0 to the Celts.
What followed was the 'Invincibles' season where Brendan Rodgers' side swept through all domestic competitions without defeat, winning all three trophies.
The run continued into this season with wins in their opening three league games, a 5-0 demolition of Kilmarnock in the League Cup and a fightback to draw 1-1 with St Johnstone at Celtic Park. Their last win was a 3-1 victory over Hamilton in the Premiership on December 14.
Yes it is. The standing record for an unbeaten run in UK football was set by Celtic themselves but way back in 1917 under the guidance of first manager Willie Maley.
His side went 62 games without defeat between November 1915 and April 1917, including two games played on the same day against Raith Rovers and Motherwell. The current day side broke the record against St Johnstone with a thumping 4-0 win on November 4.
It falls well short of the incredible record set by Steaua Bucharest, who won 106 league games between 1986 and 1989 as well as winning their domestic cup competitions during that run.
If there's one thing that underlines Celtic's domination of the domestic game, it's their goal tally. In 69 games the side has scored 197 goals, an average of 2.86 goals per game.
The forwards have filled their boots in that time but there's been no shortage of help from the rest of the squad. 22 different players have found the net during the unbeaten run and only one of them was an own goal.
Scorers
The goals scored may catch the eye but there's no surprise that the run has been built on a solid back line.
There have only been 40 goals scored against Celtic since May 2016 with the team giving up a miserly 0.57 goals per game.
Unsurprisingly, when you put those figures together you get a number that shows a sizeable distance between the team and their opposition.
A goal difference of 157 goals means they were on average more than two goals better off than the opposition in any given game.
How close have Celtic been to losing? Well, nine draws show that not every game went entirely Celtic's way and 17 one-goal victories suggests a lot of competitive matches. However, 44 games of the run were won with more than a goal to spare and 15 of the 63 were victories by four goals or more.
The unbeaten run wasn't all plain-sailing for Rodgers on his side. On eight occasions the team have found themselves trailing and dug deep to get a positive result with the most exciting being a date with Motherwell when the sides traded blows before the champions came out on top with a 4-3 victory.
