Griffiths: Lack of concentration cost us a famous win
The 26-year-old scored a brace of free-kick but it wasn't enough for all three points.
Leigh Griffiths says a lack of concentration at the end of the match cost Scotland a famous victory over rivals England, as a late Harry Kane equaliser rescued a point for the Three Lions.
The Scotland striker had a memorable afternoon in the Hampden sunshine after scoring two free-kicks in the last few minutes of the game to give the Dark Blues the lead.
Despite edging ahead Scotland could not hold on for the win and Griffiths says, in the end, a draw was probably the right result for both sides.
He said: "In the end a point was probably a fair result but ultimately we are disappointed not to get all three points.
"It doesn't matter who I score against, it's always good to put the ball in the back of the net and I am delighted to get off the mark for Scotland, but as I say it is one of those games where we should be taking three points."
Griffiths says he felt the pressure as he stepped up to take the free-kicks after turning away set-piece specialist Charlie Mulgrew but he admits as soon as the ball was in flight, it was only going in one place.
He added: "There is always pressure especially when you have the likes of Charlie Mulgrew in your squad who can hit free-kicks as well but he asked me if I fancied it and I said I did.
"After the first one went in the boys were egging me to have another go and as soon as the ball left my foot I knew it was in.
"After the first one went in it was all just about getting the ball on target, and as soon as I saw the ball bend around the wall I knew it was in.
"There was too much pace on the ball for Hart to get there and it's just a poor lack of concentration at the end has cost us three points."
Despite the disappointment of the result, Scotland remain in contention in Group F of their World Cup qualification group.
Griffiths says if they can replicate their performance against England across the last four games, they can still make it to the World Cup in Russia in 2018.
He said: "Everyone is fighting for the one cause and performances like that today should we are all united as one.
"We have four games left and we will look to get maximum points from those games.
"We didn't do ourselves justice against England at Wembley but you saw that against Slovenia when we won 1-0 so as long as we take this performance into the last few games we have a great chance."
