Harry Kane: Scotland game means a lot to English players
The striker says the rivalry between nations is like a club derby.
England striker Harry Kane has insisted that the rivalry with Scotland is keenly felt within their squad.
Gareth Southgate's team have been cruising towards automatic qualification for Russia 2018 but face a Scotland side determined to land a blow on Saturday at Hampden Park.
It's been suggested that the highly-paid English Premier League stars don't view the fixture in the way players of the past did, with rivalries with Spain, Germany and Argentina overshadowing the oldest international fixture.
Kane denied that and said that the players grew up as England fans and were well aware of the feelings surrounding the match.
"I still think it means something," he said. "It's like playing for your clubs in the derbies, the same sort of feeling.
"Yes, we definitely know how much it means to everyone and it means a lot to us as well.
"We were all England fans growing up and we all knew what it meant. That hasn't changed just because we play for the team now.
"It's important that we go out there with that mindset and we know it's going to be a passionate game.
"Hopefully we can send our fans home happy."
