The chairman of a Scottish League Two football team has been fined £1000 for placing thousands of bets on matches.

Henry McClelland, chairman of Annan Athletic, was found to have made 4011 wagers over six seasons between 2011 and 2017.

This included 430 cases in which he bet on Annan matches.

After a hearing with the Scottish Football Association, Mr McClelland has received a £1000 fine to be paid within the next 30 days.

He will be fined a further £2000 if he breaches the rules again in the 2017/18 season.
