Dundee United goalkeeper Cammy Bell says the play-off final defeat to Hamilton was worse than when he was a part of the Rangers team who failed to win promotion to the Premiership two years ago.

Bell, who joined United after being released from Rangers, couldn't help United return to the Premiership as Greg Docherty's second half strike secured Hamilton's top flight status.

The 30-year-old says decisions didn't go their way in the first leg at Tannadice Park, when Simon Murray was sent off for two alleged dives, and Bell says the result is difficult to take.

He said: "I've been here before and it feels worse this time to be perfectly honest.

"We were well within the tie and obviously things didn't go our way this time and the decision went against us on Thursday night so it is difficult to take at this moment in time now to be honest."

Bell says suffering play-off heartache twice is what is hurting the most and says the fact he was captaining the side makes the result harder to take.

The United keeper also admitted some at the club may have lost their jobs because of the result and says that is the toughest part to take.

He added: "Probably because this is the second time this has happened to me it is very difficult to deal with.

"Being captain as well makes it tough but there are no words to put in we know when we went into the dressing room people might have lost their jobs and that is the hardest part."
