Patrick Roberts says he wore, and held up, Kieran Tierney's strip during the Scottish Cup celebrations so "Mr Celtic" was still a part of the historic moment.

The left back had to go to hospital during the first half with a serious face injury following a clash with Aberdeen's Jayden Stockley.

Roberts didn't think Tierney would make it back for the treble-winning party after Celtic dramatically beat Aberdeen 2-1 inside stoppage time.

"I think he was hoping to get back for 90 minutes but he got back just in time to get up on the podium," the Englishman said.

"He said he was at hospital at half time. When the final whistle went we were cheering but obviously he wasn't there so I thought he's Mr Celtic himself and he'd want to be there.

"The fans love him to bits, he's the golden boy so I thought I would get his shirt and show them he's a big part of Celtic.

"I was hoping he'd make it back because I couldn't take the trophy to hospital.

"I'm glad he came back and I'm glad he's ok. He's a tough cookie anyway, he's from Glasgow."

Manager Brendan Rodgers said Tierney may need an operation. He explained his teeth went through his palate which may require protective work.
