Lewis Horner handed suspended eight-match ban for betting
The Inverness Caley Thistle defender must now attend a counselling course.
Inverness Caledonian Thistle defender Lewis Horner has been handed a suspended eight-match ban after admitting he broke Scottish FA gambling rules.
He faced a hearing on Thursday after being accused of making 343 bets during the 2016-17 season and a further 12 in 2011-12.
Horner was found guilty and received a suspension that will only be served if he fails to comply with the SFA's conditions.
He must now attend a counselling course for at least one year and provide two reports showing he has complied before summer 2018.
This comes in addition to him not breaching any of their disciplinary rules relating to gambling before November 2018.
Inverness issued a statement at the start of May when Horner was charged with the betting offences, saying: "Upon speaking to Lewis he informed us that he had previously suffered from problems with gambling; for which he had sought professional help.
"Lewis regrets that, having previously received counselling with regard to his addiction, he did not ask for further help sooner. He is very contrite and is extremely embarrassed to have brought this upon both himself and the club.
"Whilst it is disappointing, he has fully co-operated with the club in this matter and we will offer him all the support possible in dealing with this."
