Simon Murray available for play-off final after appeal
The striker was sent off for two acts of simulation against Hamilton Accies.
Dundee United will have Simon Murray available for selection for Sunday's Premiership play-off second leg after confirming they will appeal his dismissal at Tannadice.
The striker was shown two yellow cards for two different acts of simulation in the goalless first leg tie against Hamilton Accies.
But Scottish FA rules allow United to appeal either booking for diving, which would free Murray up to play in the second leg.
Players are free to play for their teams until appeals are heard. Murray's appeal would not go before a panel until next Thursday, meaning he would be available for selection.
Dundee United will have to submit an appeal and a £250 fee on Friday to ensure their player is available.
Referee Steven McLean dismissed him after he was brought down by Scott McMann inside the penalty box 13 minutes from the end.
Murray was also booked in the first half when McLean deemed his clash with Massimo Donati as a dive.
Dundee United and Murray would have to prove there was "an obvious refereeing error had occurred" when the matter finally goes before a panel.
Ray McKinnon described the incident as "a clear penalty" when speaking to BT Sport at full time.
