Tommy Wright has said that he has no concerns about coping without Danny Swanson next season, saying St Johnstone will unearth another star.

Swanson scored the only goal of the game in Saints' 1-0 win over Partick Thistle, his 15th goal of what will be his final season at McDiarmid Park before joining Hibs this summer.

The winger has spent six years with the club and while Wright said Swanson would leave with his best wishes, he played down the idea that he would be difficult to replace.

"Life goes on," he said. "Stevie May went (to Sheffield Wednesday) and everyone said we couldn't replace him.

"We didn't that year, actually. We got only 34 goals and finished fourth. As a manager and tactically that was a great season.

"Michael O'Halloran has gone (to Rangers) and we replaced him.

"Danny Swanson is going and we will find somebody else. But Danny goes with my good wishes."

"He has proved that he still wants to play for the club. His attitude was brilliant and he was quality.

"But we will go and find somebody else and we will hopefully continue to progress."

Swanson was substituted with just a few minutes left of Saturday's match and received a standing ovation from the crowd but Wright said the decision was not to allow the player a moment in the spotlight.

"I'm not sentimental. No chance," he said. "He was tiring and young Craig Thomson has done extremely well. I don't do sentiment in any shape or form, unless it is family."

St Johnstone's win guaranteed Europa League football again next season and Wright was keen to praise his squad.

"I'm so proud of the players," he said. "It has been a tremendous season.

"It is the most satisfying season of them all because Rangers are back in the league and Hearts and other clubs strengthened after last season.

"For us to finish above Hearts after being five points behind them shows what a good side we are. They fully deserve to get the prize of Europe because of that.

"We have defied all the odds again. It has been tougher than ever with the club that have come into the league.

"To get into Europe with two games to spare shows what a great season we have had and what a great group of players we have."
