Dundee United manager Ray McKinnon said his side have found their clinical touch in front of goal as they prepare to face Falkirk.

United progressed to the play-off semi-final with a 3-0 home win over Morton, adding to their 2-1 victory at Cappielow and the attacking performance pleased McKinnon.

Simon Murray, Wato Kuate and Blair Spittal all scored in the second half to put their side four games away from a Premiership return.

"I am very pleased to come through the tie," McKinnon said. "It was a good performance.

"Saturday, Sunday, Monday and we are back on Tuesday so another really tough game.

"They (Falkirk) have done well this season, and done well for the last three seasons in this league.

"We are at home, we are in form and we are starting to score goals again and we are looking forward to it.

"I think we should have won the last six or seven games but everything was coming off the post and bar.

"Tonight, Tuesday and in the last couple of games they have started to go in, so it is good timing that they are hitting the back of the net."

Morton boss Jim Duffy was understandably disappointed to see their promotion hopes end and while he accepted that United were the better team, he felt the scoreline didn't reflect the balance of the tie.

"It was similar to Tuesday a little bit," he said. "The first half we were outstanding and when United got the first goal took control of the game and won it comprehensively. But I think the scoreline is definitely harsh on us.

"The amount of effort we put into the two games, I am not saying we deserved to win because we didn't, Dundee United were clinical and you need that firepower to see you through.

"But I think it was a harsh scoreline for our boys considering the amount of work we put in. We congratulate Dundee United."
