Brendan Rodgers said his Celtic team showed they can handle a direct approach from Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup final after a performance at Pittodrie that saw them win 3-1 and hit a Scottish Premiership milestone.

The victory kept Celtic's unbeaten domestic run going but also saw the champions reach 100 points in the Premiership table.

Rodgers was particularly pleased with a stunning start to the game when goals from Dedryck Boyata, Stuart Armstrong and Leigh Griffiths fired his team into a 3-0 lead with just 11 minutes on the clock.

"It was a brilliant win for us," he said. "It's a difficult place to come, and we scored three very good goals. We looked a real threat every time we went forward.

"I'm very proud of the team for the way they played against a team who were very direct. We've shown another side to our game, and with a better final pass in the second half, we could have scored another couple of goals."

The sides meet again in the Scottish Cup final with Celtic aiming to land a domestic treble and while Rodgers said no two games were the same, he thought Aberdeen's approach would have to change if they were to pose more of a threat.

"If they play that way again the in the cup final, we can cope," he said. "It's an entirely different game. You're going into a game where the supporters are balanced, the pitch is good, and it's a pressure game.

"It's a different type of game entirely which is why I was reluctant to say tonight had an effect."
