Pedro Caixinha has handed the Rangers board a list of players he wants to sign for next season and says they will form the core of his new-look side.

The Portuguese boss took the reins at Ibrox in March and has been charged with putting the team in a position to challenge next season.

He has been assessing his current squad and has now asked for a raft of new players to strengthen the side in key positions.

"We presented our players plan and I'm really happy and confident because I know things are going in that direction and it's a realistic plan in order to get what we need.

"We know what we can invest and we know where we are looking. Let me tell you, it is not a small amount."

He added: "It's realistic regarding to the situation we are passing and realistic to my assessment that gives me total confidence to say 'this is my core' and we can start from here.

"Maybe [it's a big turnaround of players]. So I'm talking about a new core.

"It's going to be players I know from a daily basis and that I know what I can count on from them. They come here to defend Rangers first but also to defend myself.

"It's players that I know from one season or two seasons and I know that they can give me sevens and eights instead of a ten and then a four. That's what we are really looking for."
