Ross County's Alex Schalk accepts charge over penalty dive
The forward went down against Celtic despite no contact with defender Erik Sviatchenko.
Ross County forward Alex Schalk has accepted his charge of diving by the Scottish FA over the controversial incident in his side's 2-2 draw with Celtic.
The forward went to ground with no contact from a Celtic player as his side trailed 2-1 going into the closing stages of the game.
Referee Don Robertson awarded the spot kick, which Liam Boyce converted to earn his side a point.
The incident has been reviewed by the Scottish FA's compliance officer, who has cited the player for simulation and offered a two-match ban or the opportunity to make his case at a Hampden hearing on April 27.
Speaking earlier, Ross County manager Jim McIntyre said the player has apologised for his dive and confirmed the club will accept any ban that comes his way.
He said: "Of course we are, we know it's going to come and we will accept the punishment. Alex was in the wrong, there was no contact, he has came and apologised to me personally.
"He is very upset about it because he has never been involved in an incident like this before; he's never been booked for simulation before so he was very distraught about it actually when he reviewed the footage back.
"It doesn't look good, we as a club will take that punishment on the chin and Alex and I have had a conversation about it and it won't happen again."
McIntyre said the controversy would affect the Dutch forward's reputation within Scottish football but challenged his player to prove his critics wrong.
He said: "Well his reputation will be tarnished but as I say he has never been involved in an incident like this before, he has ever been booked for simulation.
"From your point of view we know that Alex will be getting looked at because he has done it before but it is up to Alex to make sure that he is not involved in any other scenarios."
Ross County sit eighth in the Premiership table, eight points above the relegation spot and three spots ahead of 11th-placed Dundee.
The Staggies travel to Inverness next weekend in the first round of fixtures after the split.
