Hearts have 'two bids rejected' for striker Esmael Goncalves
Anorthosis Famagusta chairman claims offers were 'too low' but negotiations continue.
Hearts have had two bids knocked back for former St Mirren striker Esmael Goncalves, according to the chairman of his current club.
Anorthosis Famagusta chairman Andreas Pantelis told Cypriot television station Sigmalive that the bid from Hearts was too low but said negotiations could continue.
Reports in Cyprus suggest Anorthosis have asked for a fee of around £250,000 for the striker, who scored on Wednesday in the team's 5-0 cup victory over ASIL.
Pantelis said: "The first proposal was last week but the price was too low so they came back with a better proposal but this was also not satisfactory.
"They seem to be prepared to negotiate but we haven't come to a decision yet. We don't know yet what they will finally decide."
The Anorthosis chairman admitted a deal could hinge on sealing a deal for Brazilian striker Andre Alves of league rivals AEK Larnaca to replace Goncalves.
Goncalves is known to Hearts boss Ian Cathro, who coached him at Rio Ave in Portugal, as well as Austin MacPhee, who was part of the backroom staff at St Mirren during his loan spell in Paisley.
The striker scored for St Mirren during their 3-2 win over Hearts in the League Cup final in 2013.
