Aberdeen are hopeful of completing a deal to sign Ryan Christie on loan until the end of the season in the next 24 hours.

Dons boss Derek McInnes is a long-term admirer of the 21-year-old and talks are ongoing to take the youngster to Pittodrie in time for Friday's match with Dundee.

The Celtic midfielder has had limited first-team opportunities, featuring in just seven matches for Brendan Rodgers' men this term.

Last week, the former Inverness CT player had expressed his desire to remain at Celtic Park and fight for his place.

He said: "My thought is to stay here. At the start of the season I was asked the same question but right now my full focus is on trying to break in to the first team.

"We went out to Dubai and it was a great trip. We've been training hard and I'm fully confident in these five months I can still make a great impact."
