Tommy Wright would love to bring Michael O'Halloran back to St Johnstone but he does not believe Rangers will let the attacker leave this month.

O'Halloran's move from Perth to Ibrox was one of the stories of last January's transfer window but the 26-year-old has struggled for game time this season.

The forward has played 571 minutes in 13 Premiership appearances, coming off the bench eight times for Mark Warburton's men.

The arrivals of Jon Toral and Emerson Hyndman on loan has prompted speculation that O'Halloran could be set for an exit on loan.

But Wright said: "I don't think Michael's available for loan. If he was, that would be a player I would urge the chairman to go and try to sign for us but Michael is under contract at Rangers.

"If there is going to be speculation about his future at Rangers it's easy to see we would be a club that would be suited for him but there's been nothing formal."
