Wright: Difficult ask for St Johnstone to challenge Aberdeen
The Perth side travel to Pittodrie to face Derek McInnes' team this weekend.
Tommy Wright believes it will be "a difficult ask" for St Johnstone to challenge the likes of Aberdeen near the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
The Perth side find themselves in fifth place ahead of the weekend's trip to Pittodrie to face Derek McInnes' side, underling their reputation as one of the most stable clubs in the Scottish game.
Wright feels St Johnstone might have reached something of a glass ceiling, admitting it will be difficult for the McDiarmid Park side to challenge the Aberdeen for position in the Scottish Premiership.
"I think it's a difficult ask," he told STV. "People are asking Hearts and Aberdeen to challenge Rangers and Celtic but our resources are a lot less than them.
"How we use our resources and maximise what we have can give you an opportunity to get close to those two clubs.
"That's what we're going to try to do. We did it last season and got fourth in the league, which was tremendous, and we've got to make sure we try and do it again this season."
