Brendan Rodgers explains how Celtic can keep improving
Hard work and new faces can take the team to the next level, says the Celtic manager.
Brendan Rodgers has vowed there is "a lot more to come" from his Celtic side after they finished their Champions League campaign with a 1-1 draw against Manchester City.
The Scottish champions enjoyed their return to the big stage and faced a series of tests against Barcelona, Borussia Monchengladbach and Pep Guardiola's side.
Rodgers is now tasked with working towards more domestic trophies and a place at Europe's top table next season.
He said the work ethic and professional attitude of his players meant they could develop themselves for sustained success but new transfers would come in to lift the group.
"I think there's a lot more to come and I think they need help as well," he said.
"I think they need a few players in that can also help them. I look at a lot of the players and it's a big credit to them because you have to want to improve.
"You have to want to learn. You have to want to commit yourself to leading your life right every single day in order to get to the position that the players have been playing at."
He added: "To play to that intensity, you've got to be fit. Being fit means you're training well every day, you're looking after your diet, you're looking after every aspect of your life.
"It means you're not wasting your time doing stupid things and you're preparing yourself properly.
"Then you play within a game model that allows you to flourish."
Celtic took three draws from six matches against teams with significantly higher budgets and more valuable squads but Rodgers believed his players gave a good account of themselves and showed a commitment to an approach that can reap rewards in the future.
"That's been the beauty of it, watching the players impose this style of how we want to play in some of the most difficult venues that you can play in, like Manchester City and Borussia Monchengladbach away," he said.
"We were really imposing our game and our footballing idea on these teams. And having the composure to play a possession-based game but with speed, with quality and the creation of chances.
"So, I think more time will allow us to improve over the coming years and continually adding to the quality of the squad will also improve it."
