Scottish Cup non-league heroes Bonnyrigg Rose are hoping for permission to play holders Hibs at Tynecastle because most of their players and staff support Hearts.

The Junior outfit shocked Scottish Championship side Dumbarton on Tuesday night, defeating the Sons 1-0 on their own patch in their Scottish Cup third round replay.

Rose boss Robbie Horn - a former player for Hearts in the 1990s - admits taking the match away from New Dundas Park in Midlothian is inevitable as they prepare to take on the cup holders in January.

Asked if he regretted the 3000-capacity SJFA East Superleague ground not hosting the match, Horn said: "A little bit but you can see from the amount of interest it is going to attract that there is no way it could possibly be held here.

"For us, it has to be Tynecastle. Hibs have 11,500 season ticket holders and we take a huge following as well.

"We will have a lot of neutrals - and Hearts supporters - wanting to be there, too. I'm a Hearts fan, a lot of the players and committee members are as well. This is the dream."

Captain Jonny Stewart, who also came through the youth ranks at Hearts, making two first team appearances under Csaba Laszlo in 2009, also backed the calls to take the match to his old home stadium.

The 26-year-old midfielder said: "It would be great if the tie does get confirmed there. The majority of the boys are Hearts fans so it would be a dream come true for them to play at Tynecastle.

"But just playing Hibs anywhere would be a great moment for us.

"When we entered this competition the dream was to get a Hearts, Hibs, Celtic or Rangers - a tie which could set a club like Bonnyrigg up for years to come."

Adam Nelson's late strike earned Rose the match-up against Neil Lennon's Hibs in a famous result for junior football, whose teams have been able to qualify for the competition since 2007.

And, asked if Bonnyrigg could go on to record one of the cup's greatest ever shocks and put out Hibs, Horn said: "Well it is another Championship side. We will go in with belief because I think Dumbarton have caused Hibs problems this season.

"Yes, we will enjoy the day but come game time we will be there to win. If we show the same confidence and belief we did in the two games again Dumbarton, you just never know."
