Canning: Accies will not stand in way of big move for Crawford
The Hamilton boss says the forward's form means interest in him is inevitable.
Hamilton manager Martin Canning would see it as "a success" if Ali Crawford earned a big-money move away from the club.
The 25-year-old's performances this season have caught the eye and though no bid has been made to take him away from Accies, Canning wouldn't stand in the way of a January move.
Instead, he says he would take pride in developing another player who was moving up in the game.
"There has been no interest so far but I know there has been a lot of talk about Ali because he is playing really well," the Hamilton boss said.
"As a club, if something was to happen for Ali that would allow him to move on we will wish him all the best.
"We'd see it as a success from our point of view because we'd have taken someone from our academy and helped them move on to a higher level."
Canning said while Crawford was a highly-valued member of his playing squad, finance was a major factor and Accies simply could not compete with clubs south of the border when they come calling.
"If that happens we will have to deal with it," he said.
"As a manager you want to keep hold of your best players, but I understand these guys put a lot of work in.
"Everyone knows this club is about giving people a opportunity, but you're never going become wealthy playing for Hamilton.
"You need to move on to the higher levels to earn money and have a nice career for yourself. If we can help along the way that's something we will try and do."
