Celtic's on-loan winger Patrick Roberts scored the goal that earned them a point against his parent club Manchester City and said it was "a good feeling".

Roberts gave Celtic a dream start with a jinking run and finish but City equalised soon after through Kelechi Iheanacho.

The goal was the perfect way for Roberts, whose 18-month loan finishes at the end of the season, to remind City fans of what he has to offer and he said he just had to do what he could to impress. He pointed out how odd it was to score his first goal at the stadium in opposition colours.

"It meant a lot," Roberts said. "A few of my family are here and it's obviously the club I'm signed at so it's a good feeling.

"I'm pleased with the performance as well, it was a good one from the team.

"It's my first goal at the Etihad and it wasn't for City. I'm here to play for Celtic and I've got to do my best on the pitch so that's what I did.

"I've just got to do what I can on the pitch and hopefully that gives me a chance."

The entertaining 1-1 draw was Celtic's last involvement in the Champions League this season as they finished behind Barcelona, City and Borussia Monchengladbach but Roberts said that the Scottish champions could reflect on a positive experience.

"It was a tough group at the start but we came into every game positive and looking to get the best result we can," he said. "We did that at times against some top quality teams and to get two points against City is good.

"I thought it was a penalty but that's how football goes. It doesn't matter now and we'll go again next year.

"It was a great learning experience this season and I'm fairly pleased with how Celtic did and we'll go into next season stronger."
