Hamilton striker dedicates goal to plane crash victims
Brazil-born Alex D'Acol scored in Accies' Scottish Premiership draw with Partick Thistle.
Hamilton Accies striker Alex D'Acol dedicated his goal against Partick Thistle to the victims of the Colombian air disaster which claimed the lives of many Chapecoense players.
The Brazil-born striker was shocked by the tragedy which killed 71 people, including much of a football team on their way to a cup final in Medellin.
D'Acol admitted he found it difficult during the minute's silence held before the 1-1 draw at New Douglas Park.
He said: "I dedicated the goal to them, and I hope they can get past this moment.
"The minute's silence was difficult for me because it's my country; I cannot feel what they are feeling, but I can imagine. I feel for them, and I hope God gives them the peace that they can use to bypass their sadness."
D'Acol's fifth goal of the season opened the scoring for Accies in the first half, Thistle pegged them back to 1-1 and had a goal perhaps harshly disallowed for offside, but the striker says everyone at the club currently feels like a broken record.
He said: "It's disappointing again; we had the win in our hands and let it slip again, (so it's) two points down the drain.
"We're repeating ourselves all the time, we're ahead and it's happening all the time that teams are scoring so it's disappointing.
"Partick Thistle think there was a foul in the build-up to our goal but I don't think so. Every team would complain after losing a goal and it's normal.
"You've got to try, to see if the referee gives it, but it wasn't a foul. I got the ball in front of the player and he (Liam Lindsay) kicked me, not the other way around.
"In every game I try to score, all forwards try to score and give their best. I didn't get many opportunities but I managed to score the first goal so I thank God for that, but I'm disappointed again."
