Dundee United could be set to lose Scott Fraser in the January transfer window as a number of English sides weigh up a move for the midfielder.

STV understands Championship club Wigan have joined the race for the 21-year-old who has already been attracting interest from League One sides Charlton Athletic and Peterborough.

Fraser, who has scored three times this season for Dundee United as they sit a point off the top of the Scottish Championship table, still has 18 months left on his contract.

A product of the Tannadice youth academy, Fraser broke into the first team two-and-a-half years ago and has since cemented his place in midfield with a run of good form.

He signed a new three-year deal with the club in the summer of 2015.

Wigan are currently struggling at the bottom end of their league while Peterborough and Charlton sit fifth and 15th the division below respectively.
